Welcome to Spotlox!
Spotlox is an online marketplace that connects athletes, parents, and learners (“Students”) with independent trainers, coaches, and instructors (“Trainers”) for hockey training sessions and other skill-development classes.
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Spotlox website, mobile app (when launched), and related services (collectively, the “Platform”).
By accessing or using Spotlox, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.
1. Definitions
Spotlox, “we”, “us”, or “our” refers to the operators of the Spotlox platform.
Trainer means any user who creates a listing or offers training sessions.
Student means any user who searches, books, or purchases training sessions.
Listing means any training session or class posted by a Trainer on the Platform.
Booking means a confirmed reservation and payment for a Listing.
2. Our Role – We Are a Marketplace Only
Spotlox acts solely as a neutral marketplace that facilitates connections between Trainers and Students. We do not own, operate, manage, or control any training sessions.
We are not a party to any contract between a Trainer and a Student. All agreements, responsibilities, and liabilities for the actual training (including safety, quality, coaching standards, cancellations, and disputes) rest entirely between the Trainer and the Student.
3. User Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to use the Platform. If you are under 18, you may only use the Platform with the involvement and supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms.
4. Trainer Obligations
As a Trainer, you represent and warrant that:
You are qualified, properly insured, and legally permitted to provide the training services you offer.
All information in your Listings (prices, availability, descriptions, credentials, and images) is accurate and up-to-date.
You will comply with all applicable laws, safety regulations, and facility rules (including ice rink policies).
You are responsible for collecting any required waivers, consents, or medical information from Students.
You will perform services professionally and safely.
You agree to our white-glove listing service (if you opt in) and understand that we may create or optimize your listing based on information you provide.
5. Student / Booking Obligations
Students are responsible for:
Reading the full Listing details, including cancellation policies set by the Trainer.
Arriving on time and prepared for sessions.
Complying with all safety rules and facility requirements.
Providing accurate information when booking.
6. Payments and Fees
All payments are processed securely through Spotlox.
Trainers set their own prices. Spotlox may charge a service fee or commission (clearly disclosed at the time of booking or in your Trainer dashboard).
Early trainers (first 20) may receive promotional zero-commission periods — these are subject to separate terms communicated at signup.
Refunds and cancellations are governed by the Trainer’s cancellation policy (visible on each Listing). Spotlox may facilitate refunds in accordance with that policy.
7. Cancellations and Refunds
Each Listing displays its own cancellation policy set by the Trainer. Students and Trainers must follow these policies. Spotlox is not responsible for disputes arising from cancellations.
8. Reviews and Ratings
After a session, both Trainers and Students may leave honest reviews. We reserve the right to remove reviews that violate our Community Guidelines or contain spam, threats, or illegal content.
9. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
Post false, misleading, or fraudulent Listings.
Engage in harassment, discrimination, or unsafe behavior.
Use the Platform for any illegal purpose.
Scrape, copy, or misuse content from the Platform.
Circumvent payments or attempt to book sessions outside the Platform.
10. Intellectual Property
All content on Spotlox (logos, design, text, software) is owned by or licensed to Spotlox. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to use your Listing content (photos, descriptions, etc.) to promote your services on the Platform and in marketing.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Spotlox is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform or any training session.
Our total liability to you will not exceed the amount you paid to Spotlox in the 12 months preceding the claim.
12. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Platform is provided “as is.” We do not warrant that Listings are accurate, that sessions will meet your expectations, or that the Platform will be error-free or uninterrupted.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Spotlox harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Platform, your Listings, or your interactions with other users.
14. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason, with or without notice.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new Terms on the Platform and updating the “Last Updated” date. Your continued use means you accept the changes.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the courts located in Toronto, Ontario.
